I would not be happy with it being the 'wrong' side of vertical! I guess your ambient temperature there is quite high but even so!
have you checked outside of radiator for restrictions like leaves/debris etc? And is cooling fan(s) kicking in when required as car is idling?
And coolant level is normal yes?

Plug in an OBD port scanner and read what it does. My 350 goes from 190°F to 208F when the fan kicks on. Guessing but suspect when over 225°F the needle moves off normal below half mark.

On level ground check your coolant level at the engine block. If the reservoir is full and your block is not rimmed full, you likely have leak in the coolant system.

AZ brother! It happens. It reached 100 degrees here yesterday for the first time. Just monitor it, dont let the car get into the red and you should be fine. the fans do a good job of keeping everything cool!

So, 95°F caused issues? We'll see a new thread when it hits 115°F there...
Check the coolant as I suggested early. It shouldn't do that.

As long as the gauge isn’t borderline red, you’re fine. when i get in my car the gauge is already about half way up, if not more. You can have the coolant checked, but it won’t yield anything. I guess it can’t hurt to check. Az heat is just intense.

I'm in AZ, and my car's temp gauge has never crossed the middle mark even when driving in the hottest summer afternoons.

I'm with 2013FSport on this; New Jersey (or even South Carolina and Florida where I vacation) is no Arizona, but I've driven the car dozens of times in triple digit heat, and never seen the needle move above its normal spot just shy of half way.

I think you should check your coolant system. Outside temp here in Bangkok,Thailand runs around 100-105 almost everyday and temp gauge in my car never goes more than halfway

I'd personally check the cooling system. Something isn't running optimal. In the past here in SC, my car has read an external temp of 111 before and the coolant gauge was where it has always been.

Not trying to wage war, but from personal experience, I haven't had a single issue with overheating. His needle is just barely over the half way mark. If it continued to climb we would have a different story. Coolant being one tick mark higher than usual and staying there with no other symptoms is no reason to flush and replace your coolant. My advice is to watch it. If it continues to climb higher and higher, whether that is in the span of minutes or span of weeks, then have your coolant replaced. I don't see anything wrong with coolant doing what it's design to do. Cool the motor. If the coolant is hot, its doing what its designed to do, take heat away from the motor. I too have driven in the hottest of summers here in AZ where OAT reaches into the 120's often. The temp gauge in the car easily reads 135 or higher during these summers. Can you only imagine how hot everything gets trapped in a metal engine bay sitting in the sun? It's just hot. It happens. OP just watch the coolant temp over the next few weeks. If it continues to get higher and higher have it replaced and the coolant system inspected. If it gets anywhere near the red, pull over and stop the motor. There's really no need to freak out over one tick mark higher than usual with no other symptoms.

Not my car or problem.... so.
Like I said, the ECU normalizes the input so nobody freaks out when the gauge is swinging up and down all day.

That said from an actual temperature input it can be as low as 175 or as high as 230°F and the needle sticks to the left of center. Yours on a 9x°F day going past 1/2 way says something is wrong.

Head the warning....

cheap things to check first.
-radiator fins, are they dirty? spray them down and clear them up.
-after car is off and cool, check coolant in the overflow tank and in the radiator. radiator should be full and tank should be between the marks.

buy a bluetooth obd2 (search elm 327 on amazon) hookup for less than $20 and download the torque lite app. this will give you a readout of the coolant temp.

whats the mileage? has it ever been flushed? is the coolant pink or green?
