Unhappy Bad U joint! Help!

2006 IS250 AWD, couple weeks ago it got extremely loud and vibrates while driving. We thought it was my rear wheel bearings until it was up on the lift and turns out my rear u joint is bad. I cannot find this part for sale. Do I have to replace the whole driveshaft? or does anybody know where I can get this part? Thanks in advance!

I could be wrong, but I think the CV joint is a part of the axle assembly.

It does look that way but the aftermarket world has them as does fleebay. I'm sure there must be an OEM service part that us outsiders are not seeing. I bet Jeff could find it.
Do a search for Lexus IS350 flexible driveshaft coupling.
They are out there and can be serviced.

You are talking about the rubber coupler between the drive shaft and the third member / rear differential, yes?

Hello,

Do you have any updates on this issue? We’re you able to find the u joint for your Lexus?

Thanks

They made one post 1.5 years ago. Not likely to reply in this lifetime... try Rockauto.com

OK, never mind RA, they do not have it... IIRC it is sold as a complete driveline assembly which is why there is no PN for it. The center support bearing is the only item currently serviceable through rockauto.

@Jeff Lange
Jeff, can you lend a hand here (hold ours) and tell how to drill into "non-serviceable" items like the drive coupler?

Thanks!

Lexus doesn't list much separately for the prop shaft on the 2IS/3IS, but you can get a few of the pieces if you know what will work. This is a list of what I am aware of (some is listed for the 2IS, some isn't):

37230-30181 - Bearing, Center (IS350 RWD)
37230-39095 - Bearing, Center (IS250, IS350 AWD)
37511-30020 - Coupling, Flexible (Qty: 2 for IS350 RWD, 1 for IS350 AWD)
90105-12265 - Bolt, Coupling to Propeller Shaft/Yoke (Qty: 6 per Coupling)
90560-12059 - Washer, Coupling Bolt (Qty: 6 per Coupling)
90179-12128 - Nut, Coupling Bolt (Qty: 6 per Coupling)

The u-joints themselves are staked into the prop shaft yokes and are not intended to be serviced. The only source I am aware of for a u-joint that might fit the 2IS prop shaft would be Febest AST-USF40, but it's not something most driveshaft shops would likely touch.

Thanks Jeff! They sure are proud of that chunk of rubber.
We used to press out stamped caps. Generally speakinspeaking not alot of fun, and too much clean up before installing new caps.

Im still curious what tool/site you use to always pull though! Regardless, thanks!
