Has anyone changed there hanger bearing ? I have a highway shake that starts at about 70, Gets worse around 80. If I’m on the throttle it isn’t that bad can barely feel it. Sometimes it’s worse than others. I can also hear a hum like a bad bearing noise starting at about 40mph. Doesn’t sound like a wheel bearing, the pitch doesn’t change when turning. I looked at the hanger bearing the other day. Feels tight but does move up about 3/16. Wheels are fairly new, but that doesn’t mean they need to be rebalanced. The noise is what makes me think it’s in the drive line.

JM2C but most driveline vibes begin at much lower speeds like 38 to 45mph and from there are load dependent. Increase the load, increase the vibration.
That said the bearing mount does move a fair amount and that is pretty normal... Is this RWD only? If not there is a lot more to check. Have you ever dumped the fluid from the rear diff? You might just to rule out a bearing going south as one might find the oil to have a silver hue.
I would start with tire/wheel balance just to see that maybe the two are unrelated. Also, have the shop VERIFY the balance before popping the existing balance weights off.

It’s definitely higher speed vibration and less under load. , it’s RWD. When I let off the pedal from 85 as I’m coasting it gets worse.
Dif. Fluid was done about 10k ago. Fluid looked and smelled fine no metal in it
I was planning on starting with balancing next week. On vacation so a little extra time for the car.
I’ve been paying attention to it the last few week, seems different roads it vibrated more or less.
But it I still have the hum noise.

I put my stock rear wheels on today and went for a ride. Vibration was gone. Brought the wheels to Firestone they recommend a regular balance. The bad vibration is gone just a slight one in the front wheels now. I asked for the to check the balance before removing the original weights. When I picked them up,I was told the tech that did it was gone for the day. There’s definitely more weight on them now. Best $30 I’ve spent in a long time. Besides chipotle. Lol
