Default 2009 is250 AFS HID housings- High beam LEDs

Hello, I am replacing the halogen high beams on my 09 is250 witb an LED kit from Xenon Depot and with the bulbs installed I cannot get the access cover back on over the bigger LED.

Is it possible to keep the cover off?

I imagine it would allow moisture into the enclosure but I'm not sure

Which bulbs did you get exactly from Xenon Depot? Normally you need to drill a 1-inch of the covers with a drill bit for the ballast to fit through the outside of the headlight. If you got the LED's with the metal tabs you can probably bend them. I don't recommend keeping the covers off as you might end up with moisture or water inside the headlights.

Thats what I had thought, just found it odd XD suggested this kit for my car and they don't fit inside the covers.

Thanks for the sanity check, I will be contacting XD tomorrow.

Why do you want to change the high beam to LED? I only used high beam once, and that was when I got lost in Tucson and ended up in middle of nowhere.

So to update, I was able to successfully swap out the factor halogen high beams to Xenon Depot LEDs. With some careful arranging of wires and cooling fins everything fit behind the covers. Pics below of the install process, showing the hole drilled and grommet installed for wire pass-through.

Let us know how you like them. I've been curious what the DRLs look like with the replacement LED bulbs.

I disabled the DRLs with techstream because I drive with the headlights on always. I personally think the high beam output with the LEDs is much better over stock. I love how bright they are and I love how quickly the LEDs turn on compared to halogen.
