Hello everyone. On September 20th I installed Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3+ tires on my 2010 IS 350- 225/40R18 Front and 255/40R18 Back.
I ordered them from Tirerack.com and had them shipped directly to my mechanic who installed them. He told me after installing them that he had trouble balancing them because they were packed really tight, and he told me drive on them a couple of days to loosen them and bring them back to him to re-balance. I brought them back and he re-balanced them, and the next day I went out of town on a trip from Northern Cal to Southern Cal (360 miles each way), and when I hit about 65 mph I could hear a lot of tire noise, and when I hit about 80 I could actually feel the car vibrating. Also I could feel the steering was a bit off, and the steering wheel would resist a little when correcting. I called him and he told me to take them to a tire shop in SoCal as maybe some of the balancing weights might have fallen off. The next day I took it to a tire shop in LA and they re-balanced the tires, and the car felt better but when I was coming back home again the tires were making a lot of noise and when I hit about 75 to 80 mph I could feel vibrations. the steering was still a bit off and resisting for a second when making corrections.
Yesterday I brought the car back to him and he re-balanced all the tires again. This time the vibrations are gone and the steering is fine, but there is a bit of noise. I was wondering if anyone else has experience with these tires and if this is normal. In the past and on all my other cars I have always used BFGoodrich tires, and have never had this issue of them not balancing or losing balance and or making excess noise

Thanks, that's good to know. They have a deep tread design, I figured that's what is making them a bit noisy

I have gone through two sets of these tires and haven't had much noise at all. In fact, I'm about to add my third set. Balancing has been fine. Great tires and I don't think there is anything else out there much better.
Hope things settle down for you.

Yes, I've put a bit over a thousand miles on them and they have gotten quieter, but they are definitely noisier then the BFgoodrich tires on my 2006 Camry SE (V6) and my 2013 Toyota Sienna. I love the grip on them which makes up for the additional noise
