Possible IS 250 Purchase
So I was thinking of buying my cousins 2007 IS 250. 118,000 miles. Dealer offered her 4800 as a trade so that’s my price. Went to look at the car this weekend and several things troubling. Interior panels on both sides cracking and sticky. Guess she had dashboard replaced but panels not covered or something. But surprising till I googled and realized it was a big issue earlier. Also, check engine light on as well as vsc light? Cousin said dealer checked out lights twice and came up faulty sensors or something. Said they have been on for 2 years. Another concern is I just found out she has been running 87 gas for entire time? Isn’t it a 91 minimum? Took car out and seemed to run very good. No hesitation, pinging, etc. Exterior good, not great. Looking for a reliable vehicle for 2-3 years. Thoughts?

87 octane gas is no problem. Try again to get the door panels replaced at a dealership. Try to figure out what is causing the CEL and get it fixed if its not too expensive, otherwise just live with it. This model had issues with carbon buildup which might be causing the CEL. Check with the dealer on that too.

The sticky dash recall ended 5/31/2017 for the 2006-2008 IS250/350. At the time the door panels for the car you're looking at purchasing may not have been "sticky" but it's worth a shot at the dealer. Tell them the dash was replaced and the door panels should have been. They'll be able to see this from the vehicle history as well. I would say $4,800 is a good price given the mileage for the vehicle. We paid $7,750 from a private seller a year ago for our '08 IS250 with 152,000 miles. It's been very reliable as well.

$4900 should be a steal, sans seeing a picture of the car.

[img]blob:https://www.clublexus.com/ff99098c-a562-450c-88f9-a204886aad8bBought the car for my son. Quick question. First gear seems to be extremely short and not the smoothest into 2nd? Mechanic I took car to before purchase thought all was good but just wondering if this was always the case with this car.
