Doing some repairs from a small fender bender to my car on the hood. Replaced the damaged OEM Hood with a Carbon Fiber and realized we could not close the hood because the driver side hood hinge was damaged and we couldn't salvage it. The damage hood hinge causes the hood to be misaligned and the hood slightly misses the lock in the center.
Anyone have instructions/manual on installing a Hood Hinge?
I already bought the part on carid.com. I really like that site by the way
My Lexus IS 250 2008. Had a little fender bender on the passenger side and repaired the bumper, passenger side headlight, and front grill
I'm guessing you'll be pulling the fender to get to it. Are you certain it's the hinge and not the core support shoved back or over?
Do some diagonal cross "X" measurements from equal alignment points as far forward to as far rearward without hitting anything and verify the opening is square. If its not square, it may not be the hinge.
The hood slides on the hinge. Loosen the bolts to move the hood fore/aft equally or on just one side to make it fit the fenders and then re-install the latch or striker once hood fit is good. That means height along both fenders as well as gaps.

Got a friend of mines, who is working with me on the car, who figured out how to remove it without needing to to take off the fender. He is about 80% sure he can do it as he had a tool that helped.
We have attempted to slide the hood on the current hinge which how we figured our the hinged had been damaged and moved. We even took it a step further and drilled extra holes in the hinge and ALMOST got aligned but the hood was off which did not allow it to close all the way.
So I just wanted to report that my friend and I were able to removed the hood hinges WITHOUT removing the fender.
The specific tool we needed was a 3/8 of this set - https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07LFGJ7...v_ov_lig_dp_it
We successfully removed and replaced both hinges!!! Left is the old Right is the new There was a gap in the old cause the misalignment of the hood
