Default Should I SWAP my '08 IS350 for an '08 IS250 6MT???

I own a 08 is350 with 99km and I'm considering swapping for 08 is250 with a manual transmission.
The is250 has 99km on it aswell.

I plan on owning a Lexus IS for the next 3-5years then selling it and getting a grocery getter ecobox like a corolla.

I bought my 08 is350 for $15,000 CAD (11,500 USD)

Need to give context on why you want to do it.

My opinion? No.

I don't use the full 305hp..... I want a manual car just for the fun factor. Power isn't really an issue for me. I'd like to save a little bit of money on gas fillups.

Tldr: 6MT manual seems fun and tiny bit of savings on gas

I would say that is up to you. But personally I would not. The mpg between the two engines is not that much, but you get more out of the 350's engine. I got the bug last year to go back to a manual, and was sorry I did.

If you're looking to save gas and get a manual, get a Corolla or a Civic

250 also has carbon build up issues. But I’m sure there are people who will trade you .

Never had a 350 but I had an 08' IS-F and I enjoy driving my 07' 250 manual more than I did the IS-F. The only performance mod on the 250 is an exhaust. I am happy with the overall gas mileage on the 250 also.

Yes, and get sways bars and a short shifter. Car will be more fun... I’d rather have a good handling and feeling Is250 then a is350 with power that feels dead.

Well, if you own either an IS250 or IS350, you are both in good company! I've driven both, and they are great cars

I've driven most iterations of the IS, and there are pros and cons, but when it came down to purchasing one, I also was deciding between the IS250 6MT and the IS350 and ultimately went with the IS250 6MT. It was just a much more fun and engaging experience, but that's as someone who wants a manual transmission and it is one of the more important aspects of the car to me.

You state that you ended up buying an IS250 with the 6MT, but your signiture says IS350 with 6MT. Thought I would point that out

I swapped the engine 5 years later - now I have the best of both.
