High Mileage Transmission Fluid Change

What I was saying was that 4 original qts came out total, and 4.5 went back in on the first try. Heated her to 104 and pulled the 5mm allen head drain plug, and not a drop came out. It was only when I put the rest of that 5th qt did fluid start to pour out. What I was wondering was where did that fluid go?
The old days cars had vacuum modulators that allowed none electronic controlled transmissions to judge engine load. If the diaphragm ruptured it would suck the oil from the trans and burn kt through the intake. Usually making some level of exhaust smoke while cleaning the intake valves! Gone without a trace...
These, not so much. What month was the car manufactured? I think your fill process was good. Maybe someone along the way checked it at full operating temperature and lost some?
EDIT: just read that again.... Allen cap is the overflow. If pulled cold, it may not overflow. What am I missing?
On the ORIGINAL FILL; did you pull the overflow bolt at 106° ? If not at temp, results will vary.

Valid. One does have to wonder where it went. Likely been low for a long time. What you have helped us know is that they will survive a pint low which is good information. Well assuming it wasn't misbehaving that is.
