Default Tires! Staggered or square?

Alright boys I have a 2008 IS350 on STOCK RIMS.

Currently I bought the car with a staggered setup
(OEM rear rims look bigger than front)

Should I buy my winter tires in a staggered or square setup?

Don't care about performance. I am more concerned about comfort/traction/safety for winter.

Is it possible to slap on the same size tire on the front without buying new rims?

Yes, there's nothing wrong with that. staggered size tires in the winter is a bad idea.

Just go square.

Is your car RWD? There is a 1/2” difference in width on OEM rwd wheels.

You can still go square If you want to.

I would prefer square (more practical, tire rotation), but I went with staggered factory setup for both winter and summer. The winter condition in my area (Vancouver, BC) is not so bad.
