Ok, while on my way to work I was looking at some figures. 1. What are the typical coolant and trans fluid temps you guys see in the winter. And 2. Do you guys notice a decent lag on this setup? Wouldn't this lag completely screw you if you're were trying to read trans temps for a refill, knock retard for tuning, or boost if you have a turbo lexus?
You can also add me to the list of nothing showing for VVT.
And with a 4 count it seems we have a classic case of leading the witness down the garden path.... Thankfully no cliff at the end. Just a lack data! Lol
Everyone, thanks for looking!
Be sure to throw in other items that do and/or don't work.
I found a bunch of the power steering data (EPS) is available if anyone has a need. This includes the temperature from the thermistor showing what I would guess is the drive motor but that's a WAG. If you saw the wheel back and forth it climbs rather quickly....

Using the engine data as a guide, I can confirm the transmission data is SLOWER to Rx. Almost the same LAG AS OUR PADDLE SHIFTERS.... << possible there is a relationship here?
Trans temps even when 40°F outside pretty much mirror the engine temps hanging at 200°F +/- 15°.

Slower to? what? the drug store? I'm lost. And your paddle shifters are slow? Mine are quick lol. I'll check that trans temp/ambient air relationship tomorrow see how close they are.
So, last night the car sat for 13 hours. The ambient temps when parked hot were low low 50's and at 7 AM, it was 32°F.
Upon starting the 350, I loaded Fusion and pulled this up which admittedly took its sweet time so within a minute the engine temp now reads 66F and the trans 53...
I'm writing as I have a hard time believing it should be anything above 40°F. That said, there is pump producing 60 to 80 PSI of line pressure so work is being done that will raise the fluid temperature. I just didn't expect it to raise this quickly.
Time - Engine - Trans
7:02 - 95 / 66
7:05 - 124 / 85...... Engine temp moves right of "C"
7:09 - 156 / 118.... Engine temp @ 7:00 clock
7:15 - 187 / 161 ... Engine temp @ normal 630 position.
7:27 - 187 / 188
Moral of the story is this; if you are doing your fluid level check on a warm day, your window of time before the temperature overshoots is very limited! Obviously results will vary for the stationary vehicle. In this example I was driving 4min after startup.
PS - Leaving the heat on an AC does not bring the idle down.

Also, there is quite a bit of lag on these readouts. While playing with this app I'm inclined to believe that you should start draining at 103, because a lot of the times 104 is really 105. Honestly, if you're just a bit over on the trans fluid, which you have to be to "drain the excess" it should only really be 15 - 20 seconds worth of draining anyhow so... I'm just making an observation.
Hopefully the VeePeak will work for you. I've been using the Viecar 2.0 OBD2 adapter for the past two years and it's had no issues with reading the KCLV and KFV PIDs. I can't comment if the data refresh rate could be better or would be the same using a different adapter or with Bluetooth 4.0 support.
I've been searching for PID numbers to use on Torque Pro to access trans temp on my 06 IS350 and have had no luck. PID 21D9 is listed for pre-2010 transmissions, which I'm able to pull data, but its a negative value and fluctuates with RPM so it appear to be wrong. Downloaded OBD Fusion with PID pack and it doesn't work with my ELM (cheap ebay - have new one on order). Any advice would be appreciated.
I finally upgraded from Autel to a Vgate Icar that supports obd fusion. I used it for a day the way it comes. Today I purchased the Lexus section. Question I have. Does it have to scan every time you start the car ? I have a Vgate icar 4.0 BLE that shuts off after some time to not drain the battery.

Nope, a one time deal until the app has the data erased.
