Default Any cheap way to clean rear view mirror?

Boys has anyone been able to clean the rear view mirror?
The black spots look like it's dirt or debris

I had to buy a used one cause the heat inside the mirror jacked it up. That's another flaw in these vehicles. Look on CL, fleabay, or wrecking yards.

Can get an aftermarket upgrade, not cheap but turns out great. Gentex Frameless 50-GENK80A ~ $167

I have been looking into this as well. Gentex is the OEM. I've been looking at replacing my rear view mirror but with a more recent one that has the current version of homelink. Several different Toyota model rear view mirrors look like they can used, albeit, with modifying the wiring. They run ~ $50 all day on ebay. I'm not sure which one would work best yet but just wanted to point this out.

Best bet is to get an appropriate 2010+ IS mirror, which is what Lexus did to fix this issue.

No personal experience, but several people on this forum have been pleased with radar-mirror's service. http://www.radar-mirror.com/Mirror_Repair.html

If you grab a used fleabay 2010 up, for a few cents more you can get the compass from cars without Nav which even though it sounds silly to add to a car w Nav, I would in a second as it keeps your eye on the road when out exploring which I do pretty often. There is thread on here somewhere about taking the GS mirrors for this cause.

I did a DIY on going Gentex but I originally did the radar-mirror route until I learned about the Gentex option.

my biggest issue with radar-mirror was the dimming response time sucks and it doesn't dim that dark.
