My Lexus IS250 hesitates to accelerate and during a kick down will hesitate and just suddenly accelerate. What is wrong?

If it's an IS250, it is very likely to be a carbon build-up issue. But BEFORE that, try disconnecting your battery for 20 minutes and reconnect. Then go drive the car how you would normally. See if that "reset' helped anything. If not, oh well...it was free attempt at a "fix".

When was the last full tune up and did it include a MAF cleaning? Also how many miles and how is the car used?
Freeway, city, short trips or open roads?

It has done about 188k within the city and just recently had a bad carbon buildup in the cats which i changed. Now the mechanic just told me it has affected the valves and that would prompt a valve change as well as oil change. And this is after the car suddenly released white smoke when the engine is on.

OP this ^^^ is your fix!
Look up Walnut blasting. You do not need new valves. You clean them in place. Find a new mechanic!

i wish I could find someone in SW FL that can walnut blast. I remember posting about that long time ago in some threads. Those were the good days... endless threads.
Since that time my 2010 IS250 has actually improved. Still same carb build up, and no top engine clean. Back then I had 89k now its up to 130k. It drives like a Beat now, aint that Krazy?
I might trade it in cause I dont wanna push my luck and be stuck with a new engine needed or valves or what not. So lately just looking into a ES350, im still upside down on the loan, still owe 8K, KBB says I can get about 6K back. What do yall suggest?

I would keep it - there's a lot of life left in that engine. When we purchased our '08 IS250 with 152k last year the dealer noted the carbon buildup issue. I poured a can of Seafoam in the tank and handed it over to our college student who drives like she's Mario Andretti (as you know driving WOT can help). The car currently has 170k with no issues! If the problem comes up again we'll do the Seafoam treatment and keep on going.

Im really curious as to why the carbon build up issue is brought up a lot here. I have an 06 is250 with 128k miles and my wife has an 08 is250 with 180k miles. The only thing either of us experience is the RPM dropping to 500ish for a second when coming to a stop but then idles as normal right after, but that happens very rarely like maybe 2-3 times a year. They both drive the same as if they were new. We do our oil changes on time and use Top Tier gas, maybe the difference in experiences could be attributed to fuel quality? We get our gas at costco and do remember the shuddering problem happening a lot more frequently before costco switched to Top Tier.

To the ops question, maybe its a tranny solenoid going bad?

Tomorrow its going in for sticky dash recall. They sent a letter and agreed to extend mine. Its not bad but if Lexus wants to replace the dash for free, have at it.

I think knowing the actual usage history on those that carbon up would paint a picture but seldom are the people telling the story. More often than not I suspect short drive cycles, lots of idle time, and limited or no highway use << Mind you these conditions remove these vehicles from Standard Maintenance and place them in Severe Duty requiring shorter maintenance intervals.
From here it doesn't matter if it was dealer serviced every 5k miles, as the dealer doesn't know two sh%ts about how the car is used and the it needed an OCI of 3k miles to ward off the 23 times the engine was started in a single day.

Every engine I've had that I kept for more than 200K mi, I looked and saw the intake and exhaust ports and none have build up as I routinely exercise the full rpm range of everything I drive! It does them GOOD! They NEED IT! Do IT!

It has 257000 km
and i drive mix of city and highway like 30-35 km a day
i got the car from auction
i did oil change , differential oil change changed all rhe filters but still
when i push the car to 6000-7000 rpm it shots out grey smoke or white idk
and even on highway or any street if i push it suddenly it will shoot us smoke and smell

Like shoots grey white smoke in the same day? Is it fully warmed up when pushed to 7k? If no then stop! It needs 15 to 20min of driving to fully warm up.

Grey clouds can easily be trapped soot in the heads and exhaust from years of puttering and never being opened up. When cold and level, check coolant level at reservoir and under the pressure cap. Also monitor oil level. If these are stable, continue to open it up and the soot that took years to accumulate, will slowly leave too.

Think of it as a human with cholesterol / plack buildup. It took years to build up so it will take time to go away. Exercise the full range of ability on both man and machine and they get better.
