2013 Auto Transmission on 2006 IS
Does anyone know if a Auto transmission from a 2013 F Sport 2IS IS250 RWD will fit a 2006 IS250 RWD? I read somewhere that they have different part numbers.
Can replacing the tranny be done completely from under the car or does the engine bay need some dismantling?

Look at your VIN plate where it displays "A/TM", It should display A960E. While as I know it, the later years migrated to the A760E which is not a direct swap.
FWIW: None of AWD transmission will swap the A760H, although the main case is the same, the output shaft is different.
Revised post: All 2IS RWD 250's are A960E

For the 2IS, there are 6 types of transmission used:
IS200d/220d: RA63
IS250 RWD MT: RA62
IS250 RWD AT: A960E
IS250/350 AWD: A760H
IS300/350 RWD: A760E
IS F: AA80E
All 2IS IS250 RWD's used the same transmission for all years. For others, internals may vary within the same type (for instance the A760H in the IS250 AWD is not exactly the same internally as the A760H in the IS350 AWD, and so on).

Jeff, I looked through a bunch of threads and knew the AWD switched to A760H....
Thanks for the correction...
PS - looking for this plate data. This being my RWD IS350.

Just wondering, where is the transmission ECU located? Reason I ask is because although my transmission is a 2006 transmission, when the dealership did the last solenoid job in 2013, the actually upgraded the software on the transmission ECU. So when I get a second-hand transmission thats from a 2010 for example I'm wondering is the transmission ECU on the transmission body itself? So will the ECU get replaced too ?

Thank you Jeff and 2013FSport. I'm looking at a few options for the used transmission. One option is from a 2013 F Sport with just under 50k miles on it and the other option is a 2010 F Sport with 86k miles on it. When fitting it, I plan to have the oil drained and filter changed and filled with new WS fluid. The 86k one is about 100 bucks cheaper. Looking at the photos of both, On the 2013 lower mileage the torque converter plate thing that attaches to the engine seems quite badly rusted (picture below) I think this might be because it has been off the car for some time and maybe because of that? The 2010 one doesn't have this rust yet but if it's sitting around maybe it will develop the rust too? If this plate has rusted up just for sitting around, what are the chances of things inside and behind the torque converter etc like the clutch plates and all the gears being rusted? If there is any rust inside, that will be a disaster.
Oh and also, the face of the bell housing that connects to the engine block, will the transmission shop need to put a new gasket or seal between engine block and the bell housing?
