) for like $30. The tricky thing with the rear is just removing the liners. Also some of the aftermarket don't have the clip into the stock post like OEM, I used an "e-ring" from harbor freight ($7 package, use 20% off coupons) to hold it in. This setup beats spending over $120 (shipped/tax) for OEMs.
I also did the front hood ones that I made a video on.
just replaced mine. they didnt come with the brackets. you're suppose to reuse the brackets off the old shocks but i didn't realize that after the install so i just didn't put a retainer backet or clip. oh well, yolo.
Someone in my country is offering to sell and install powered boot liftgate. Works out to be about US$450. Wondering if it is worth it. Checked around the internet, but no one makes any powered boot mechanism for the 2IS. Maybe this guy is adapting it from other Toyota models. Or maybe this guy is trying to pull a fast one on me, and take a deposit and disappear.
Recently changed the boot struts with parts purchased from aliexpress. But it doesnt feel quite premium. When i press the boot release mechanism, sure the boot unlocks, but the edges of the boot lid seem "stuck", as if there was suction in the boot, and so requiring a little force to get the boot lid lifted up.

The seal for trunk/boot keeps it "stuck" that is normal. The struts help it about 30% up, after that the new struts do their work.
I was on the bad OEM for like 7 years without thinking much of it except when I closed the trunk, it would slam each time. But with the new one, you need to force close and the opening is so easy once the seal is unstuck.
