Default How to improve vague steering?

The steering on these cars feels like a camry... Very floaty and luxurious.

How can I tighten up steering and make it feel more planted and sporty? I wanna feel more control over the car.

Take a look at my post further down titled "F Sport sway Bar set questions". Besides the sway bar set I also installed RR Racing Lower control arm bushings, which pretty much removes the sloppiness in the steering and gives it tighter feel with more feedback

My coworker who has an IS250 loves it and placed an order with RR Racing

Please use the search function located at the top right corner of the page. Many of the answers can be found by using that feature. Also , familiarize yourself with the FAQ sticky for the 2IS forum.

  • ISF power steering ECU (preferably 2012-2015)
  • RR Racing lower control arm bushings
Both of these made a tremendous difference on my 2008 IS350.

I have an ISF Steering ECU pulled from a 2010 sitting in my garage, but after installing the RR Racing LCA Bushings, I don't think there is a need to install it! I have the Fig engineering steering rack bushings also sitting in my garage, I'll probably install those as well when I get a chance

You should try it while you have it. No reason not to, is there?

Yeah, but I'm a bit reluctant. I'm sure it doesn't need to be calibrated since it's used but I don't know if it's going to mess things up. Everything is working perfectly, I don't want to jinx things, if you know what I mean. I've been in IT for over 25 years and we have this saying... don't fix it if it ain't broke. In other words, don't upgrade that software unless you're forced to (upgrades always break something in the IT world)

Do it!!!! There is no need to recalibrate.

Trust me. You won't regret it.

Just disconnect the Negative battery terminal first and when connecting the battery after installation, connect the negative last. Less chance shorting tool to body this way.

Also, study the connectors. Some have issues with them.

FWIW - I snagged a 41 from a 2011 so it will be interesting to see the difference from the F-Sport ECU in there now. I'm helping people move over the next two weekends so it's not likely to happen for a bit.

If you don't mind, what is the F-Sport Steering ECU part number? I'm not buying one, just for future reference. Thanks!

Thank you for the Part number. According to the Lexus parts site the F-Sport steering ECU requires the F-Sport suspension

Based on that information, we need the whole IS-F to do our testing!! Bahaha!

I've driven two other 2IS's a manual and an auto 250. I didn't like the deadband in the center of the steering. I think the F-Sport got rid of that so IMO that is an improvement. I'll post up elsewhere my findings on the IS-F steering ecu.
