IS250 Oil Catch Can Install + PCV Valve Replacement
After 13 years, I finally got around to installing an oil blow-by catch can to reduce the carbon buildup. I also did some breather filters for the valve cover and intake on this project, the full DIY is on YouTube but the photos and parts are below.
Also did the PCV Valve as it was only $8 for OEM (eBay Lexus Dealer). The make several P/N for the 09+ IS250 and the IS350

09+ IS250 12204-31130
06+ IS350 12204-31050
$24 eBay Catch Can (https://www.ebay.com/itm/350ML-Capacity-Round-Cylinder-Aluminum-Oil-Catch-Can-Reservoir-Tank)
PCV Valve location, I strongly recommend the 19mm crowfoot socket. That is a lifesaver and only $7 on Amazon
This is the only place to mount with clearance.
I mounted using the bracket that came with the can and an L bracket for the IKEA dresser tip-over safety kits.
That is the L-bracket mounted into the 10mm radiator reservoir screw.
The kit came with a vacuum hose but it was too short, so I picked up some air hose at Harbor Freight for $6 which worked with 3' to spare. Also picked up an air/oil separator and 3/8-inch connector kit to connect the new hose to OEM PCV hose.
The can mounted with plenty of clearance for the pulleys and fan shroud.

Nice video and instructions, thanks.
Did you notice any performance or wear benefits for replacing the hose that connects to the side of the intake charge tube with the two breather filters on each end?
do know what size of hose is needed for the part of the tube coming out of the engine/valve cover?

Don't do it...I forgot this car uses MAF not MAP, so the breathers on the intake causes unmetered air and a CEL.
If you want, you can cap that intake hole and put a breather on the valve cover to prevent oil reentering the air stream.

yeah good tip, thanks. Are you going to buy/try the new style headlights from ingenuity time? They’re different than the hcmotion new release, but at a glance look similar.
