I have a 2012 isc and have had a very hard time remove center air vents above nav unit. All videos and write ups online are specific to older models with painted vents. The newer 2009-2012 models have a black center vent with controls in the center. I have not come across a single post or tutorial referencing these model years.
Today I got my hands on some metal pick tools which got the job done. From what I experienced there are no tabs that "pull down" and lock in position. From what I experienced today you have to insert two tools, pry down those hidden clips and hold them down, use a hook tool from inside the vent corner and pull out. The piece slides out. You can repeat the same method for the other two clips on opposite side.
My reason for wanting to remove, to see if the GPS antenna was unplugged. Which is was. Very annoying lol. Hope this helps someone in the same boat.

Please indulge my curiosity - how did the GPS plug become unplugged? I can not image a circumstance to cause this without human intervention !? Did someone do work on your car or is this a connector at risk from mere road vibration / use of the vehicle?
