Default 2009 Lexus IS250 into a 2006 IS250

I'm currently swapping basically the whole car. Interior, and also engine/trans. Little back story:

My 2009 Lexus IS250 was totaled and got hit in the quarter panel.
I bought a 2006 Lexus IS250 (with 250k miles). Horrible interior. So I'm swapping everything from the 09 to the 06.\

Interior Differences:
Connector on vent is different (needs to be rewired)
Navigation connection (for hazards and time etc) is also different. Will get a solution for that too.

I have some documentation on the swaps for interior. I'm not super familiar with motor and trans swaps, but I've done removals before. So I'm going to head into that project this week and document that too.

Engine and transmission will be straightforward swaps. If AWD make sure to match the driveshaft with the car as the rear differential is a different size between 2006 and 2009, if both RWD you'll be fine on that too.

Interior will be where you will find most/all wiring differences, engine/transmission harness from the 2009 will plug right into the 2006 body with no modifications. It sounds like you're not swapping all of the interior wiring, so you'll just need to retrofit a few things like you've found.

Good luck!

Both cars are AWD. So should I remove drive shaft from 09 and put that over to the 06 as well? Sorry, not understanding that part.

Use the driveshaft that matches the rear differential. If you are keeping the rear differential from the 2006, use the driveshaft from the 2006.

(Note: The rear differential from the 2009 will not fit the 2006 without swapping the entire rear subframe).

Ahhh okay! I see what you mean. Yeah, I was just going to pull the trans/engine from the 09, and put it over to the 06. So I'll just keep the 06 differential and shaft. I appreciate the tip on that. Should just be an in and out thing.

Guess we'll see how it goes. Either starting today or tomorrow!

Hey Jeff! So I have the front basically off. However, I'm stuck on one of the lugs that is stuck to a stud (stud must have broke cause it's spinning). However, I should only need to remove the AC compressor and then chain it up and unbolt tranny etc.

Where am I supposed to put the chain on this motor to lift it up?

The lifting hooks don't come on the engine and need to be ordered separately.

12281-31070 - RH Side
12282-31050 - LH Side (RWD)
12283-31010 - LH Side (AWD)
91671-10825 - Bolts (Qty: 4)

That said, I've typically seen the full subframe dropped instead - but that was when using a hoist. I would think you'd likely be able to get away with picking up some M10x1.25 bolts and some generic lifting hooks and be good to go.
