Default Air Filter Box OEM vs Aftermarket

Hi

I bought my IS350 07 with a suspicious Intake setup, after checking it's doing more harm than good and I want to replace it with the RR Racing Intake or the F-Sport Intake. Now, I don't have the original air filter box which I need for both setups, I was checking on the part number for the Air filter box (17700-31640) but I cannot find an Original one only Aftermarket. My question is if it's the same as the OEM one? Or should I try to get an authentic air filter box for best results?

I've had a couple of aftermarket. They all seem to be the same manufacturer. It's decent, but the top part is too flimsy. Where you clamp the hose. I'd stick with a used good condition Ebay.

I have a 3IS HPS intake setup if your interested. Similar to the Joe Z black powder coated. I had to buy individual parts to make it work.

So I should be good using the bottom part and using the F-Sport top?

The F sport top is only for the 3rd generation IS. The bottom F sport box is only for the 2nd generation. Two different airbox setups.

3IS just the top Fsport top is changed. Lower stays in place.

2IS Fsport lower air box gets replaced. The Top gets reused.

Ok. Now I get it. I need to get a used authentic top for my 2IS and buy the F-Sport kit that comes with the lower part, and I should be good to go?

Yeah I would recommend getting a used upper airbox part the part number I found for this is 17705-31182. Further to this, I would personally recommend the RR Racing Intake and cutting a hole in your factory lower box as it should be the same in terms of performance/sound as the F Sport intake, but at a much lower price.

However, I do personally like the OEM look of the F Sport intake better, but to each their own.
