Default Headlight/Front Bumper Gap

I noticed a gap between the bottom edge of both OEM headlights and the front bumper and is symmetrical on both sides. But all other bumper gaps look normal and as far as I know the bumper has never been hit.

Anyone else noticed this on their cars??

I think that is just the rubber weather stripping worn away. It's also possible the bumper cover has shifted slightly due to worn clips, maybe someone backing into you etc. After buying my IS the owner had to order new clips as the front bumper cover came off slightly on one side due to worn out clips breaking

Almost definitely broken clips. My bumper sags too just like that on one side, below the headlamp. I broke the clips on the side of my bumper when removing it.

How do the clips break?? I dont see how they they would break without impact.

Your not factoring in the age of the car and that they are plastic (the clips). I don't know if you are the only owner, but if not, previous owners may have removed the bumper cover for some reason, and one or two of the clips may have weakened or broke. Someone backing into you (happens all the time, ask Tesla owners who see it on the Sentry cams) may have weakened or broken a clip. Don't know what else to tell you

Doesnt matter Im not going to fix it. All the other gaps and joints on the bumper are fine

That's probably for the best because the only way to fix it would be remove the bumper cover and reinstall with new clips. Too much work for me

Being impatient while removing the bumper cover. I tore a clip.

3M actually makes bumper tab repair kits.

I just leave the gap alone now, it doesn't really bother me personally as my car is older and I'll probably be the last owner.

If anything, I might try sticking a strip of black weatherstrip in that gap later. I wouldn't want too much water to get into the headlamp area with that gap.
