Default My next upgrade...GROM VLINE VL2

I'm planning my next upgrade, I will be adding a GROM VLINE VL2 which I just ordered using a $50 off coupon. I looked at a couple of other infotainment upgrades including the Phoenix Tesla style infotainment but it doesn't have Android Auto support, so I opted for the GROM. I would just rather keep the existing system and I will place the GROM unit in the glove box. I'll be planning to do this around mid October

There is a group buy gaining traction on ISFreaks. 150.00 off I think

I have had my Vline2 installed for about 3 years now. I love it, only real issues I have had are firmware updates. I have had 2 stall during install and temporarily "brick" the system.
They have a way to download a new firmware onto a USB and install from there to fix it. Other than that I use it every day without problems. It is well worth the money in my opinion.

I talked to a guy who did a Youtube video of the install, and he told me when he first installed it in May it would freeze up, but since updating it to the latest firmware it has not frozen up. Looking forward to receiving it and installing

Yeah I definitely had issues with it acting up with the older firmware as I bought it right as it came out for the car but most of the major issues were taken care of within the first year.
I use pandora primarily to listen to music and even the integration of that particular app has gotten really clean.
It starts up when I start my car, even if it hasn't seen the wifi connection yet, and plays music just like it was a radio or USB.
As soon as it connects to the wifi it updates playlists and continues seamlessly.
You can also install pluto TV or youtube and watch movies, I obviously wouldn't do this while driving but you could.
I also keep a backup of 128 gig USB of music and a couple of movies in case I am somewhere without any Cell signal or want to listen to better sounding MP3's or lossless compressed files.
The CPU in this thing has never show it couldn't keep up with whatever I wanted.

On September 28 I ordered my GROM VLINE VL2. The order sat until October 1st with no status. I emailed them for an update, and they replied with the following:

"We are preparing to start shipping out our VLines today and tomorrow you should be receiving updated tracking information any day now"

On October 2nd the next day, I received an email with a tracking number and that my item has shipped by USPS. Checking the status of the tracking number, it states

Pre-Shipment

October 2, 2020 at 4:16 pm

Shipping Label Created, USPS Awaiting Item

The problem is, that has been the status since October 2nd. It is now October 8th. When I email customer service, I keep getting this reply:

We are currently going through all backorder and pre-order orders and shipping them as soon as we can. Your order is already processing with our shipping department. Please expect the tracking to start moving soon

Has anyone else gone through or going through this with GROM? I personally think it's deceptive to create the shipping label if the item is actually not available to be shipped, as this seems to be the case. I'm pretty much ready to cancel

I am curious to see where you put yours. I had a hard time finding a place that I liked and could service/install SD cards etc.

I've seen most people place them in the glovebox, where I will probably place mine as well. It's small enough to fit on the left side. Even the mounting instructions show it in the glovebox

Yeah I really didn't want to hack into my perfect glove box to make it work, I personally like having the ability to return to stock without having huge holes everywhere.

You don't have make holes. You route the wires through the area around the cabin filter is. I saw someone do it on their Youtube channel

That's what I did when I had it. I made a small cut in the cover so I could get the displayport cable through. I ended up returning mine since it kept randomly black screening or just not loading at all.
