Downshifting feeling on transmission
I've had a used tranny installed from a 80k miles car. Cant remember if it's normal but weather is now very cold and when engine is cold and when i'm driving when i start to slow down sometimes it feels like car is downshifting but it's not actually downshifting because the gear position is still the same. It's almost like car is using engine to slow down but i dont understand why it feels like its downshifting. Once everything is warm then seems to be better. I've been driving harsh occasionally so thinking maybe its got agressive gear changes or something

Transmission needs proper operating temperature to shift gears smoothly. It takes several minutes to warm it up. Don’t rush, don’t speed, be easy on the gas pedal until the transmission fluid reaches operating temperature. My car does the same in the winter. When it’s cold outside it will shift 1-2-3 then it hangs in 3rd gear for a bit (4-5 minutes). After this it shifts fine all the way up to 6th. Having said that it only happens in the winter, never in the summer.

It could be something simple as a sluggish display. Electronics have a funny way of acting up in extreme temperatures, whether it’s heat or cold. Does it do the same when the temperature inside the car is warm?
