Default Hood wont open

My hood wont open. When I pull on the latch, there is zero resistance. I tried using pliers, but no luck. My mechanic said he might have to break the grille to get it opened. Is there another way to open the hood without damaging anything?

There used to be a saying that Lexus are so reliable, you could basically weld the hood shut and never have to worry. I don't think this is what people meant though, lol.

Weird this is happening, I wonder if the cable snapped somehow.

Possibly by going under the car and removing the front underbody panel covers. But might end up being too far away to even do anything to open up the hood but could be possible if your mechanic has long arms lol

That's a bummer. Been there before on a Nissan and grabbed it from below.

IIRC, the two bolts seen here holding the latch might give them some wiggle room but even at that, it really depends where it broke.

Look at the latch, go for the cable near the source, if all else fails,, the bolts but I'm not sure it will buy you much...

If the quote goes too high, you might entertain a controlled ah, accident depending on you past and current deductible!

i have the same issue. usually i just tie a old pair of headphone wires around the latch and open the hood at the same time while im pulling. it might be a broken spring

Thanks for all the replies. I wasnt able to fix the problem. However, I did trade my car into Carvana noting the issue in my quote. They took my trade in, no questions asked.
