Default She put Battery terminals wrong way - no start

Hi Guys,
My wife tried to replace a battery herself on her IS250 (2008), and she put the negative terminal on the positive post and vice versa.
Car now is dead. Obviously.
Can anyone point me in the direction to start the troubleshooting?
Fuses? Computer?

Help appreciated, feel sick as a dog.

Welcome to club lexus.
Start with the search feature and look for "fuesable link replacement"... over the years this has happened to many vehicles...

In front of the battery under a black cover is another clear cover with multiple fuses on one bus. These are fuseable links and repair involves looking in the cover, seeing the blown link (looks like a normal ATC fuse "Z", and replacing the whe assembly.

Fuseable links are on the right.
You will find how to replace as well as other troubletroubleshooting tips..
Let us know if you have any questions...
Give her an A for effort. Results may vary.

Your wife is pretty adventurous, I'll have to give her that! If I ever asked my wife to do something as simple as even check the oil, she would just look at me all confused, laugh at me and walk away. When we first met 23 years ago, I had a Toyota Corolla, she asked me if it was a "Toyota-Honda". That should tell you how much she knows about cars. I told her yes btw...

My wife is a mixture of traditional and non traditional, meaning she considers herself modern and educated, yet had traditional family values instilled by her mother, a woman I would never consider crossing, the penalty being worse than death (rest her soul). That being said, my wife wouldn't know the radiator cap from the oil cap, and if I didn't check the fluids or service it, it would never get serviced until smoke bellowed and the car needed to be towed. Now she's driving an EV so servicing is off the table

Well, suffice it to say, that I will be buying Lexus and Toyota vehicles for the rest of my life.
This has been the fastest and most accurate help ever! Most other vehicles design, probably would have killed ECU, Alternator, ignition etc
It looks like 2 x "30" fuses and the "useable link" on the far right is broken.

Now the QUESTION : Can the individual parts be replaced, or will I need to purchase the ENTIRE Fuse assembly ?

Just the items pictured (#3). I would highly recommend using Toyota made items on critical electrical components.

I would hesitate to buy Toyota/Lexus oem parts from eBay unless it's a trusted source like a Lexus dealer. Tons of fake OEM replicas from China. I bought Toyota oem spark plugs for my 2006 Camry, the boxes looked 100 percent legit, plugs were stamped Denso, except at the bottom was printed "made in China". Took them to my mechanic to verify, and he spotted (without me telling him where I bought them) them as fake

There are few wires that need to be disconnected and transferred on to the new unit. Before you undo them, take pictures of what goes where.

Smile UPDATE on the REPAIR

OK, update time :
(and thanks to all. The Youtube videos were especially helpful.)

The 5 "tab" clips are a nightmare, and with the tight wire loom it takes hours to pull apart and lift the 3 parts.
I ordered the part ( Fusible link ) and installed it. Yes, take lots of photos.

So...got it back all together and...
pushed the start button and motor turns. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT is on, so there is more to deal with.
The car runs BUT feels like it is in LIMP MODE, and the accelerator seems to not work fully.

I'm guessing more fuses and possibly some ECU issue. Gonna try diagnose.
I see 2 x 30amp small green fuses to replace immediately, they are bust. Not sure if the bigger ones are affected.

I'll post update, if this will help others with eager beaver wives.

LIMP mode indicates something...any ideas?

SYMPTOMS after I replaced 2 x 30AMP fuses that were blown:

EXCLAMATION LIGHT ON
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CODE: P2118
IDLES and almost cuts out
Does not accelerate

Check the ETCS fuse on the driver side engine bay. It might be blown.
