Default I think I got a great deal

Hey everyone, I was able to buy a 2010 IS250 for about 700USD. It was an old neighbours car that I worked on previously. I have done some brakes, spark plugs etc. It does need some work, but I think for the price its a pretty good buy. The mileage was high 330,000kms = 205000 miles, but it still runs pretty good. About a year ago it would not start due to carbon build up but I fixed that. I still have to do a few things to it with the exhaust and tires being the most expensive, plus I need rear brakes, and the check engine light is on. I shot a quick vid of the car.

I have literally bought a lithium car battery that costs more than that. It’s very hard to find running, solid cars for cheap in my area. Great find.

Thanks !!!! I love this car, its solid and it drives better than many new cars!!! Also its RWD so it drives more like a sports car. This is one underrated car, and I was very happy to pay what I paid for it !!

Thanks for the comment

I would definitely do a fluid change all over, heck I wouldnt mind dropping 3k maintenance/paint care into this because you got it for so cheap.
Get brakes checked, tranny fluid drain and fill with filter change, spark plugs, air filter/cabin air filter, coolant flush, brake flush, diff fluid change, then some paint work and even a ceramic coating if you plan on keeping it. Also you may have bad cats, but I would think the exhaust leak is the cause of the lights on the dash since cats wont heat up properly. Belts tensioners and even the water pump with thermostat/rad hoses and rad cap should be done. But I would first get it all checked out to be sure theres no major repairs that need to be done.

You know it!!! it was pretty cheap, the exhaust is probably going to cost me closet to 1K (I can order it from amazon) I think you are right about the check engine light. Even though its high mileage it could be due to the cats not heating. I'm going to transfer over the O2 sensors to the new exhaust to see if they still work. Going to change the fluids and polish the paint. I hold the same opinion as you that because I got it soo cheap I don't mind spending a few grand on it and this way it should be a great car when its done. Can you believe it was even a one owner no accident car. Guy just drove it on the highway back and forth as he worked out of town.

The "racing stripes" are from the metal inside the side mirrors disintegrating.
I had to change both my side mirrors. You can check out my thread.

I figured the mirrors were corroded inside and it was the metal flakes falling out. I did check out your thread (really good thread) and I even watched your youtube video and left a comment for you Thanks for sharing the information brother!!! I see you are in Richmond Hill, I'm actually in Oakville!!! I think the majority of these mirror problems are going to be happening in Canada with our winters......

Thanks again
