Looked thru the forums and haven't found anything on the charging/alternator cable yet. I'm considering upgrading the factory cables before installing an aftermarket amp and speaker system. Factory cables are 4awg which is the same size I'll be running to the back. So I'd like to replace with 1/0awg high strand cable. However it appears the connections at the alternator aren't the typical ring connector. Looks like the whole charging cable system is more complicated than old school vehicles.

So has anyone tried upgrading their factory charging cable, or know of a diagram that explains how the battery is connected to the alternator?

I looked at it and was like nah!!
maybe try adding a second battery?

Yeah I saw that thread but ultimately there were no answers to main question which is how to upgrade the primary battery charging cable. Since it was such an older thread I thought I'd see if anyone had found a solution. Sadly it seems Lexus has succeeded in deterring this aftermarket upgrade, at least from the DIY crowd.
