Default Looking to buy 2007 is250

I'm looking into buying a 2007 is250 with 188k miles on it. Car seems in real good shape inside and out, and is in (supposed) well running shape. Anything I should look out for before buying?

* Sticky Interior recall performed? (ZLZ)
* Water pump replaced?
* Carbon Buildup on intake valves - was it addressed by the dealer?

* Air bag recall performed?
Recall Number 16V340000 Recall Date 05/23/2016
* Buy a Carfax - its cheap enough for a single vehicle.

If you don't have one, quickly create an account on the Lexus drivers site:

https://drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/lexusenform

Once you create the account and if you have it, add the car to your account using the VIN - this will allow you to see all work done by a Lexus dealership on that car

And lastly... there is no better way to help your purchase than to use a professional inspector or taking the car to the lexus dealer for a pre-purchase inspection. If you aren't near the car I've used Lemon squad a few times looking for my current IS. It isn't cheap but if you can't personally inspect it before the purchase it will help you weed out the trash.

If you're going solo then check the battery terminals and voltage, the oil level and color/smell... the transmission fluid color/smell (Automatic transmission) the wear on the tires (use the "penny method"). Check the brake fluid level and color. Definitely check the radiator fluid which will require you to do a little disassembly. If it's not red then they aren't using the right fluid. On the test drive find a large parking lot and slow-roll from 0 without holding the steering wheel. It should not turn left/right as long as the pavement is flat. Check the parking brake by putting the car in neutral and setting the brake then try pushing the car forward/backward. Check the windshield washer fluid.. if it looks like water the somebody cheaped out and that isn't the best sign. Roll all four windows up and down and listen for any clunk/whine from the assembly/motor. Look under the body and make sure there isn't oil/grease behind the motor along the back. Listen to make sure the exhaust system doesn't have a leak.

If you have a simple ODB2 scanner use that. If you have a friend that has access to Techstream buy them a beer and lunch and drag them along to scan it.

Good luck with your purchase!
