I'm trying to remove the connector on the radiator cooling fans but cannot for the life of me get it off. I tried with screwdriver and wedging back and forth while pulling but it doesn't budge. I don't want to use screwdriver too hard and risk breaking it. A pic of the connector is below. Can anyone please help?
I hate, hate, hate those things. There's a tab you're supposed to push in and it comes right out. I found that one mistake I make is overestimating the size of the male part of the plug. ( That sounded sarcastic but I'm not being a wise guy!) It makes me grip it wrong to remove it. Try the tab, it sometimes works!
It's too cold out for me to check today, but I recently did the radiator and such, and recall it was fairly easy once you found the trick. I'll see if it warms up tomorrow and let you know what I find when I play with it.
I find it easier on a warm engine. Also make sure the tab is fully lifted over the locking tab. Once the connector has become cool again the locking tab is not very pliable.
Just take caution as they become very brittle with milage on them. I still need to order new COP connectors since my first spark plug change at 50k . For that same reason I couldn't break two loose. Very stubborn to remove on a cold engine.
