Default Anyone Ever Change Fuel Filter?

I was researching the fuel filter and couldnt find clear info. Does the fuel filter on a IS350 need to be changed? My car has 224K miles. If so is it in tank or under the car outside the tank? Next week the car will be up in the air gettting the preowned cats put in (hope they are good!)and I wanted to do whatever other maintenance I can do.

I saw awhile back it's in tank and they did change it and the gas flow increased from it.

MikeFig82 posted a DIY on this. It's here. Remove the seat, a plate, tank is visible. Do it on low fuel and only use a flash light for lighting. No sparkles or you have a bad day.

Is changing the filter necessary? I spoke with Lexus they said they rarely change it unless engine is running bad.

For the most part, Lexus is correct. It doesn't have a stated service interval (though, tbf, neither does the trans fluid and most of us have changed ours), it's really a "it depends" sort of thing. If you're bored, and want peace of mind, and have a high mileage IS, go for it.

One load of fuel at a compromised pump and nearly any vehicle can be loaded with enough debris to occlude a filter...

Typical signs are fuel starvation under load... They can start and idle fine, but go lean under load - let's just say 3,500 RPM up.

It's a good time to look for water too.

I have changed my fuel filter when I changed out my fuel pump motor, its pretty easy but lots of stubborn clips that hold everything.

Here you go. I didn't add much pictures since you can find links, and other Lexus model DIY all over CL forums. The concept is the same.

Hi brother, check this video out, a Ford Fiesta 2010. The car doesn't matter, the year does and also where you live matters. Some fuel are cleaner in some states/countries. But nevertheless, your knock will be HORRIBLE with this stuff being in the way of your filter. Little particles gets released micron size into the combustion chamber creating big carbon problems. Lifetime filter = biggest lie ever. Lifetime anything.

I plan to just change my entire fuel pump in the near future when I had actually solved my VVTI issues being throttle plate on throttle body is loose. Big dip miscalibrated it to a point where it can't be fixed, replacement on the way. There is one on Ebay which is the same as a Delphi one, cost more than twice but is the same model. If you changed the whole thing, it is much easier than removing a lot of connecting clips, annoying as hell. Changing fuel pump = changing pump and filter. Will test how well it lasts.
