Default New Osram CBB HID’s, High Beam and Low Beam LED’s

Figured I would share my headlight and fog light setup on my 2012 IS350. Went with Osram 7000k Cool Blue Burst D4S for Low beam HID bulbs, Autoone H11 140000 lumen 6000k for the fogs and Autoone 9005 HB3 12000 lumen bulbs for the high beams. Just a note that you need an all in one bulb such as the Autoones because of the dust covers on the high beam socket. I originally purchased the Hikari Ultras but there was no way you can fit the regulator i to the headlight housing. I spent a good half hour trying to figure out a solution that didnt require modifying the harness or housing. Low beams still a bit of yellow but keep getting cooler and brighter each night I have used them. I also aimed them at my garage door from 15’ since I dont have anymore room to back up. I did the step approach with the cutoffs or else the light pattern looks weird on the road. I also adjusted the drivers side horizontal adjustment so the cutoff ended right on the double yellow line. We get some dark nights in PA and being able to see deer on the road this time of year is paramount. The Osram CBB’s are bright white light that saturates the road at night and the LED Autoone fogs compliment them well and lights up the sides of the dark roads giving you a good 180 degree of vision. The high beams remind me of my PIAA Pillar lights I used to have on my Jeep. Just a ton of downrange light that will illuminate the darkest backroads. Pretty satisfied with the setup thus far. My last set of LED fogs lasted 5 years so we will see the lifespan of these LED’s. Enjoy!

Looks great! I wonder how the colour is when it's bedded in! I had CBIs in so I can imagine how much better the CBBs are!

There's AFS brackets out now and I'm in the middle of retrofitting some MLED 2.0 Projectors! Might be of interest in the event you want to try it!

In my opinion the CBB's right now are closer to 4000k color and have some yellowish light. I'm not sure how many hours of burn in they need but almost all the reviews on Amazon say the temperature will cool off. Im 100% satisfied with the Autoone LED fogs and high beam and I'm on the fence about the CBB's as of right now. They are definitely brighter then the stock OSRAM D4S bulbs. I will report back in a month or two to see where the color ends up.

Thanks man. Been looking for a solution for LED high beam bulbs. The ones I had before, couldn't fit into the socket with the door closed, causing my HID ballasts for low beams to go out. Will try these!

Questions, do the 9005 bulbs cause the DRLs to flicker?

I seldom get to use the HB's, but have the Osram CBI. They are good for visibility but their color range claims are a bit of a stretch. That said the CBI is only rated at 6000k.

Fogs are Morimoto XB LED for Toyota Lexus 2011 and up and are a bolt in replacement.

LB and Fogs

LB only

Color a seen by Android.

A single LED fog into the woods.

I'm happy with this lighting setup. I do wish the cut off were better as OP posted..

Something like:

Has anyone ever tried to fix it? The cutoff?

I've tried a clear lens swap - It didn't do much at all just sharpened it. No colour banding and output didnt improve much either.

I

I ended up swapping out the fog Lights to the Fahren H11 LED. Its a better match to the CBB’s since they now changed color on me and are probably a true 6000k+ color. They were originally a yellowish light and I was like “ohh these kinda suck but better then my stick”.The light on the road is very white light and Im very happy with the Osram CBB’s and they where definitely worth the price. You can see from the first pictures I posted to now the CBB’s look like a different bulb altogether.

Low Beam and Fog lights. Took a few attempts to get the cutoff lines to match up.

Those CBB’s look great! Your light output looks impressive with just the low beams.

I bought the CBB’s for my LS430 over the summer. How long did it take for the color to change on your lights?

I want to say about 7-10hours of burn in and they changed colors and seemed to gain some Lumens. I remember jumping in the car one night and was like “wow, these are very bright and was really able to see the cutoff lines more than usual”. Original color was 4000k range and now low 6000k. My Fahren LED fogs say 6500k and the CBB’s are close but have more of a white output vs blue hue.

iirc, it's usually about 20-30 hours for the bulbs to fully break-in to get to their full lumen and color values. I would probably consider the CBBs closer to their stated color temp than the aftermarket led bulbs would be once you pass that break-in period.

These are from an abandoned project, have good output and a nice cutoff.

Thanks. Interesting it didn't help the color. What bulb did you have?

The cut would be nice to address tho. More of a mechanical fix.

A clear lens, and maybe some spacers, will give you some more color flicker, but that's all you'll get as light output will not improve regardless of what you do with them. The stupid side bulb mount design on our projectors makes it nearly impossible to do anything with them (this obviously comes down to a spacing issue, and retrofitting regular projectors may prove problematic). You'll have to do a complete projector retrofit to achieve better light output/better color flicker if that's a rabbit hole you're thinking of going down.

I would recommend reading around HIDPlanet as there are plenty of people there who have done retrofits on ISx50 projectors. Or, here's a good read here on CL about others who've played around with our projectors: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ojector-3.html

I had CBIs in there. I'm not convinced another colour bulb would change anything

I tried a few combinations of spacers but nothing really worked well for me. I ended up just retrofitting - ended up being easy enough to do and gives quite good results considering the projectors in our cars already.

this gets me torn between the CBI and this CBB. Do you have experience with the CBI?
