Default 2010 IS 250 Burning oil?

My IS is 130k miles in and recently saw the “low engine oil level” light on my dashboard - the same one for the “oil maintenance required soon” etc. but with different text. I have never seen it before and I do changes every 5k miles. Is it normal for the car to burn oil or could it be a signal for some other problem?

No oil leaks, I have been checking my car every time I leave ever since and nothing. I saw this on my way out of my mechanic and went back. They were cleaning up my transmission fluid and thought they might have forgotten to tighten something up even though it should not have anything to do with the oil AFIK. They said the level was at the tip of the needle and put 1-2 quarts so I can go and come back for an oil change next week.
I just checked my oil level and it is a bit weird. This is after the car has been parked for ~20 hours. And I think I know how to measure oil level but these 2 photos are after I wiped it once and pushed the needle back. Am I missing something wtf!?

If that is accurate massively over filled. I don't know how the maintenance light works but the oil level sensor is something that has been known to go bad. How long has that oil been in the engine? It looks quite good.

Sounds like you need to go back and tell them to drain that oil. That looks at least a quart over.

I still have not gotten the 500 miles to next change light and I think I did my last oil change in May. It might look better due to them putting some fresh oil in last week.

Regardless of the photos is it possible for it to burn oiL??

Can't tell based on your pictures. Engines that burn significant oil tend to darken the oil fairly quickly due to blow by past the rings. Don't recall reading anything about *GR engines burning oil common failures are the rubber oil line, cam phaser rattle at start up, water pumps going bad. Think that's about it.

It looks like it's over filled. How many quarts of oil did you use on the last oil change?

RWD is 6.7 qts with new filter.
AWD is 6.8 qts with new filter.

Dangers of over flow.

Its a known fact that some shops will mistake the Trans drain plug for the oil drain plug. And vise versa. There were cases where they drained the oil (Trans Fluid by mistake) then put fresh oil back in (overfilled the oil). Sound to me like someone did something like this here?

huh I used to have that happen on my is350 for the first 15k miles I had it the color was pitch black, I then romped on it during the 4th Oci and since then the oil color has become clearer and I don't burn as much oil, more so leak now.
