Default Purpose of height control sensors?

I see the IS250 comes with height control sensors, and an ECM.
Do those serve any purpose other than adjusting the height of the headlights?

@rickjames8 I believe the height sensors only control your headlights. If you pull the AFS fuse it only disables the headlight auto-leveling without any other issues. Be aware that if you need to replace those sensors that they cost around $250 or more each.

Can anyone who has disabled the system due to having issues with it chime in on if its actually a noticeable difference or not?

Good to know as I'll have four to sell. ;-) However, I've seen a few sell recently on fleabay for about the $60 mark unfortunately.
