Just a FWI: piston/combustion chamber carbon build up creates potential for detonation. Detonation pulls back ignition timing that reduces performance and fuel economy.

^^ A lot like running cheap 87 octane fuel. lol
So, get some before and after data. If the engine hits >23 kclv, then its most likely fine. That said, it needs a clean MAF, Fresh plugs, good oil, clean air filter and all that jazz...

Let us know if you have question.
Thank you! Will definitely do this check first before doing anything else.

Keep in mind the intake has to be clean to get good values. Start with cheap boroscope to phone tool and take a look. My 350 still pulls kclv's of 25 looking like that.

Start with a quick peek down the plug hole...

Interested in knowing if perhaps a member has used or experience with the following product;

BG Aerosol Carbon Eliminator Spray - 12 oz.(PF06-N1A5) (with Aero cone?). I've used CRC GDI IVD Intake Valve & Turbo Cleaner and wonder if similar / more effective etc. Also used BG EPR flush.

BG Aerosol Carbon Eliminator: The one-step contaminant remover for GDI engines;

Wasn't aware of the STP setup, thanks Protholl. Appears similar to the Berryman Intake Valve & Combustion Chamber Cleaner # 2611

I've had no experience with the Berryman version or the BG one so I can't say which would be better. Good luck!

I bought one of these and use on all my cars doing the running engine drip cleaning. The one I got was open box for $49. Works great. This is the method the Dealer service uses. I do my cars periodically to clean and also keep clean so not to build up.

Amazon Amazon

You can also get this and do it a cheaper way.

Make sure you change the oil and filer after you do the cleaning process.

^^ You are becoming the search master! Nice Yoda approved solution!

The key thing everyone needs to keep in mind is that carbon took hundreds of hours to accumulate. Most chemicals can't undo this in a tank of gas or an hour idling.
3 and 4GR owners need a maintenance plan if there vehicle primarily does short trips!
