Default 2009 IS250 AWD head removal

I have an 09 250 with a bad head gasket or cracked head.
My pal at Lexus says the engine has to come out the bottom to get the heads off because of all the timing gear train on the front.
Anyone tried pulling the bank 2 head off without removing the engine?

Thanks in advance,
Dan
PS: This is the same engine I posted the DYI walnut shell blasting of intake valves a couple years ago.

Why no Dan, I never pulled a head while installed.
Well it can’t be done due to pins in the timing cover that go into the upper oil pan.
Which requires the engine to be pulled to remove upper oil pan.
The engine can however be removed from the top without a two post hoist but the front end has to come off first.

I guess I would have gotten more replies if I‘d asked a favorite air freshener color. Haha.

I'm on here pretty often and missed your post on 2022-05-06. Did it never have the coolant changed or run low? These aren't known for losing a gasket on a whim. Regardless, that sucks.

Even if you could do an in frame repair, I'd pull it as it's just too many hours bent over and laying under it. But why pull the transmission and xfer?
