Question 2010 is250 - spark plugs and ignition coil recommendations

Hi,

Which plugs and ignition coils are recommended? I assume amazon has the best pricing.

Thanks in advance

These aren't known for coil pack failure, and I would not recommend any none Denso replacement.

Also, I would not try to save a dime with a cheap often times counterfeit plug from Amazon, either. It's not worth the headache.

Order Denso plugs and check the gap. I mean, it served it well this far, why ruin a good thing! Right?

Do a search, all the info is here...

My is250 has 120k miles or so and P0300 and P0301 popped up. The car has original plugs/coil packs. Would you recommend just replacing the plugs for now and forgoing the coil packs? Thanks

You'll need to find out which cylinder is misfiring, then swap the coils and see if the misfire follows. P0301 code is telling cylinder one, but get an OBD scanner anyway. With 120K miles, your car's plugs are way overdue for replacement. I'd replace that first, clean the MAF and TB. Look for loose connection that maybe causing a vacuum leak.

Almost forgot, 250 plugs are PITA to replace.

That is what I would do. I suspect P0300 random is the result of carbon build up. You'll have the upper intake off for the plug change and this will allow you to see into the intake ports and put eyes on the intake valves.

Although a plug change at this time is certainly needed, it may not be the entire fix to the problems associated with direct injection engines like the 3GR and 4GR.

Read up on carbon build up in the intake. Also, it would be wise to have a new gasket set available for the intake, although many have reused them too.

Let us know if you have more questions and please tell us how the vehicle is used. i.e. highway city short or long trips.
