Hi All,
I have a situation with my young adult son’s 2008 is250. It is his daily driver, and I think it had every light on the dashboard lit up. His mechanic really screwed the pooch on swapping out the wheel hubs. He killed the speedometer and the ABS system, as some of you may remember. Then there was the TPMS sensors and two new tires. Two jobs down, one to go.
Well, he has his first real adult job out of college so obviously, it’s extremely important to him that this car be running well. I’ve had the car for a couple of weeks and gave him one of mine. The last hurdle I would love to overcome is the P0420 code that is causing the check, engine light, VSC and traction light to come on, along with the exclamation In the triangle. It is so aggravating that one lproblem throws four different lights on! Anyway, we have changed all of the oxygen sensors, the MAF sensor, the engine, air filter, the cabin, air filter, and the gas cap. We live in Florida (car has always been in Florida and not near the ocean) , so while it may be some thing in the exhaust pipe, I don’t know if the conditions exist here for that to occur. Plus the car runs pretty quietly. We tried turning off the check engine light with the computer and it came back on a few days later. We have also done the fuel injector treatment several times and it has never affected this damn check engine light. does anyone have any obvious ideas that I may have missed? Thanks to everybody for all of your helpful suggestions now, and in the past! Couldn’t have gotten this far without all you smart people!
