correct procedure on replacing high pressure fuel pump on 2006 Lexus is 350?
I have a 2006 Lexus is350 with a p1235 code, I've tried replacing the fuel injection computer but the problem still persists and the car has been going into limp mode for almost 10 months now, I found a local guy parting out a is350 and I can get the high pressure fuel pump from him for a decent price. But what is the correct and safe procedure on replacing the high pressure fuel pump? I see that it's held on by two bolts, fuel line clamps and the electrical connector, seems easy enough to remove, however I don't want gas to spew everywhere and cause problems. I've heard people say leave the car sitting for a few days to release the pressure or depressurize the fuel lines, but which is the correct way to do it? If depressurizing the fuel line is required how do you do it?
I got a new HPFP gasket from my Local Lexus dealer but is there anything else required for a new high pressure fuel pump?
obviously with a job like this I will first be disconnecting and removing the battery from the engine bay.
