IS 200t low rpm rattle
Hey Forum, new here and sorry for my first post being a question about a (potential?) issue on my 2015 200t,
I noticed some type of rattle when car is in gear and throttle is applied at low speed, also something that doesnt happen all the time - but when it happens its usually under these conditions. car itself drives totally fine too.
doesn't really matter is engine is hot or cold, its got the vacuum regulator replaced with the new hose etc., running on 5w30 oil (also happened with 0w20)... not even sure if it comes from the engine or the transmission/driveline in general since that "rattling" sound usually comes in gear, doesnt matter if Drive or Reverse.
might have to listen a bit closely but it should be noticable enough in the video. Maybe someone can tell me if its actually a normal thing or even a known issue?
Here's the video showing it : https://www.youtube.com/shorts/6nZqV...?feature=share
Thanks for help in advance, greetings from germany

more of a sweak. probably the brakes touching which would be normal.
The only other thing I can think of is on many cars the heat shields on the front and mid exhaust sometimes rattle . you d have to get under there but if it s only when car is moving then it s back to brakes or something wheel related. heat shield can make noise when in park and giving it a little gas, that would rule out brakes.
trial and error. good luck.

heatshield was one of my guesses as well, but i'm sure it doesnt have anything to do with brakes/wheels etc.
we'll see, if i ever manage to find the culprit i'll post an update here, thanks though!

I have this noise from my 14' 350 as well. It's a type of rattling in very low rpms, takes a very light foot to replicate it consistently. Goes away instantly if you miss that sweet spot on the gas pedal. Easier to replicate going uphill or up a ramp in a garage type setting where you can hear it clear. I'm just attributing it to a heatshield or exhaust rattle because the car drives perfectly.

For mine, it's a 2018 Is300 Rwd and whenever I put it in drive, it only makes noises around low rpm or to around 1500. It will make a heatshield kind of noise. I think it might be the downpipe heatshield but I still can't figure out exactly where it is. Been trying to tighten every bolt on the heat shield near the downpipe.
