Default Are new cars from Lexus waxed before delivery? PPF maybe

Just asking.
Does anyone know if the dealer or the Lexus factory wax cars prior to delivery? Or is the paint on a new car raw and unprotected?

Am considering doing a PPF on parts of the car. Paint correction should not be needed on a new car...so, is the new car paint raw? Unwaxed or unprotected?

No. Dealers are starting to charge their markups now with claiming to put ceramic coatings on. I would be cautious of that.

Mine came pre-scratched and spider-webbed, courtesy of Juan - the dealership's detailer/maintenance/security employee and his trusty shammy towel.

All at no extra charge.

Not that I know of and I always skip the dealer wash; I've seen the rags they use to "detail."

99% of dealers do a horrible job (or non at all) detailing and prepping cars to the liking of any auto enthusiasts . Most ceramic coating shops will do a quick polish first, which is also a mild form of paint correction. Surface prep is the most important step for ceramic coatings to stick. Dealer just don't have the time, interest or personnel. For all practical purposes I d say the paint is unprotected on new cars. Even if they apply a quick detailing spray , it s nothing like a ceramic coating that you d pay over a grand for.

Think of this too, you see a car on the lot, you buy it and they tell you you can take it home or pick it up tomorrow. Ceramic protection done correctly could not even be done in that timeframe. so when they tell you they ll coat it when its prepped is BS. Professional coatings must not get wet for about 48 hours. It just doesn t add up.

If the dealer added their own coating, there would be a charge on the window sticker showing it. Otherwise, nothing else is added.

Just purchased a 2022 two days ago. The dealer finance guy tried to sell me a ceramic coating/paint protection plan for $2,000. I declined. The car is at the shop that paint corrected and ceramic coated my Vette. It'll be there for 3 days. They are charging me $1200 for a coating with a 6 yr warranty. My advice, take it to a professional to get any paint/coating/wrapping work done.
