Default DIY: Interior Swap - Black to Rioja Red

This is more of an FYI and if anyone has questions.

My car: 2017 IS200T Base model with heated seats (black interior)
Donor car: 2020 IS350 F Sport with heated, vented and memory seats (red interior)

Today's goal is to get the rear door panels in.

Best video to help remove the rear panels:

I've taken apart my door panel as much as possible and the following can be swapped over:
- Handle
- Silver trim
- Window switch
- Pocket
Picture below to show it, these are all Philips screws, tip: When removing them, lay them down in that order so you know where that screw went, it's very easy to put this back together and to forget one screw.

Everything else is stuck to the panel itself, so keep this in mind when shopping for used door panels that you can reuse certain parts from your car.
When putting the panels back in, look at the white clips, some have a black spacer on them, make sure you put those clips with the spacers in the appropriate spots.

Also, when putting the new door panel back on, make sure that the corners are tucked in correctly and not folded out (corner against the window).

All pics are shown below, as well as the difference between the F Sport window switches and Piano Black.

Next is the rear seat including the air bags.

Before you start, disconnect the car battery (some will wait 10-15 minutes before actually disconnecting the air bag)
This harness was a bit confusing to remove, so I made this quick short to help others:

Meanwhile, I'll be steam cleaning the seats before putting them in. I'll update this post with more info.

A few more updates, if you end up getting memory seats and your car doesn't have memory seats, the driver seat will not work.
The driver will will not move at all (won't go forward, backward or recline)

Also, the driver side window switches are different (20 pin connector).

Removed most of the wiring and the memory motor motor that has 4 pins (OEM has 2 pin)
I'll rewire this one motor (the seat has 3 motors) with the goal of getting my old motor (2 pin) to work.

Once I take apart the OEM seat (base model), I'll confirm whether or not the controls on the side are the same as well.

Completed the swap (can be seen on my IG).

Notes for anyone thinking of doing this:
  • If you end up with a memory driver seat, you'll need to:
    • Swap the motor (that moves the seat forward and backward) with a base seat motor
    • Re-use your regular seat switches (the memory one has a different harness and more wires)
    • Swap the seat harness for an F Sport harness (or make your own)
  • If you have RWD, you'll need to keep your driver seat right rail (next to the center console) and reuse it on the AWD seat
    • The ball bearings are a pain to put back in, so you've been warned
