2021+ IS350 Rear subwoofer removal
video back up.. there were little to no resources on how to remove the stock subwoofer from a non ML 2021+ years IS350.. All the years below, which are close but there are some nuances that may be different. When you get to the airbag yellow clip removal on the back seat, another user posted something about pushing the white part twice instead of how i did it.. so keep that in mind. Hope this helps someone out, feel free to PM or leave a Youtube comment for any help you might need or if you have questions. In my opinion this sounds so much better than the stock system but also keep in mind my car came with a non working sub to begin with, you can see in the video what the previous owner did to it
**** UPDATE: ok so after taking a look at everything and having this installed for about a week now - some notes. Sounds absolutely amazing. I would say much better than even a ML equipped Lexus. I can turn the sound up to way past 50 without any distortion. Sounds great outside the vehicle with windows up/down and if you put your hand on the back window it shakes just a bit, not too terrible. Zero rattle anywhere, I used dynamat on the trunk lid and around the sub. One note to those still not wanting to go through this whole process.. You can just pop off the plastic square on the back tray by the rear windshield which will expose the subwoofer. You can then make a long horizontal cut in the carpet liner of the tray to get to the subwoofer wiring and the bolts holding it down.. Obviously however, you have to cut up the tray, but once covered back up with the plastic part you wont see it. I guess an option. Also, to drop an aftermarket sub in you will have to cut out a square piece in the trunk carpet above, about 3 by 3 or so for the magnet to drop down.

haha yea the process was frustrating especially when you remove something only to find out it could have just stayed put! you can hear me being out of breath in the video a few times.. was trying to be super careful not to damage anything so took my time.. do have to add - the way i mounted the sub using a Toyota highlander bracket does work but the bracket is only screwed in in 2 places instead of 4. It doesn't move, and i used plenty of dynamat around, so its solid.. BUT now looking back at it I should have just bought a sheet of ABS plastic from homedepot its like $6 along with a coping saw to just make my own bracket using the original sub as a guide.. the way I did it however, still fit everything back into place using all original parts. I did not have to cut any plastic on the tray peace which was a plus, the sub is about the same height as OEM once its all put back together
