So as of Wednesday I’ve been hearing this knocking/tapping sound coming from the back passenger side of the motor whenever I’m in drive and at a stop. It goes away immediately after i press on the accelerator.

if shifted to any other gear the noise goes away.

im aware of the natural ticking but this is not it.
I’ll attach a video of the noise from with in the the car. You gotta really hear it.

i will add that this doesn’t always happen every time i stop but it’s been happening often.

Maybe a loose exhaust shield?

3 days ago I purchased a 2014 IS350, and just earlier today I heard the exact same noise as in your video. I first heard it in Drive at a stoplight, but once driving its hard to tell if the noise is still there. In Park, Neutral, and Reverse, the noise stops. I haven't listen to the sound outside the car with the hood opened yet. At first I thought it might be from the HVAC blower, but after increasing and decreasing the fan speed and turning it off completely, I still heard the noise, so I ruled that out.

I'm not a mechanic but it does sound like something is hitting something. I would guess exhaust related as the low rpm can have that certain frequency that vibrates the exhaust a little more to tap on anything near it.
