Terrible Gas Mileage All of a Sudden
I had a 2014 IS350 F-Sport. In 2022, I gave the car to my sister with 30,000 miles on it. It was in excellent condition and was up to date on all its services. She has since put on an additional 20k miles but is getting terrible mpg. She is currently getting 12-13 mpg which just seems really odd to me. She drives mostly around the neighborhood picking up her kids from school, taking them to their various activities/friend's houses, running errands, etc.
I live in the city (she lives in the suburbs), but even I was getting 18-19 in the city and 22-23 highway. She drives on eco and does not have a heavy foot (unlike me). Any reason the mileage would drop off so much? Trying to figure out what might be happening as she can't really afford to fill the tank so much and is thinking about selling the car since it is too expensive to maintain.
TIA for any ideas.

Yeah, the question would be - how short are these trips, actually? If she is just going 5 minutes everywhere, yeah that will be terrible gas mileage. That would be expected. If not, I would start to question whether there is some deferred maintenance on the car.

Wow, i thought 18mpg was not great doe city driving. I get better gas mileage in similar driving conditions in my Porsche Macan GTS. I'm sure most of her trips are probably less than 10 minute drives so I guess it is to be expected. Just didn't think it would get as low as 12-13mpg. Thanks.
