Hello, I’ve recently began hearing some sort of rattle or knocking sound coming from the center-right side of the engine, was wondering if anybody here has heard something like this before or has some ideas as to what could be causing it. It’s got ~83k miles for what it’s worth.

That could be rod knock, it could also be a blown turbo or failing water pump. Does it smoke when you gas it? Does the knock change with RPM? Does it go away when warm?

It doesn't appear to smoke, and the knock seems to go faster with higher RPM but it's much less audible. Doesn't go away when warm either.

Not going to say for sure but that sounds like a bad water pump. Rod knock is usually a much slower rhythm and more sharp.

So I took it to a shop this morning and they told me it was the water pump. Fingers crossed that's all there is to it.

Got my car back from the shop with a new water pump and serpentine belt. The noise is gone now. Thanks for the responses. The rod knock comment had me worried after I learned what that was all about lol.
