The 2nd Gen will always carry special meaning for me, soon after I bought it new in 2007, I got a call from JM Lexus to invite me to participate in a small intimate gathering with the designer of the IS in a luncheon hosted by JM Lexus. It was a day I will never forget, there were about 8 or 10 other IS owners also invited along with staff from JM and the car desginer and his interpretator. It was so amazing, they were asking us what we liked and disliked or what we could change for next design. They wanted feeback. The food was amazing, desert and all. At the end they presented us with gifts from Japan. JM Lexus is the best dealership!!
I will most likely be upgrading to the 3rd Gen IS350, I just hope it can surpass my expectations.
Do we know if the designer of the 3rd Gen IS is the same designer of the 2nd Gen IS?
Oh and by the way, I just got my JM Lexus monthly newsletter and in it they are offering for sale right now a black 2012 LFA Sport 552 hp![EEK!](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/eek1.gif)

Sooooo close! Looks like another base or hybrid model. Tailpipe is CT-style.

This rendering was made a year ago in 2011, at a time when no one knew what the 3IS really looked like. What is the verdict on what the person who made this really saw? A clay model, design department drawings, or an actual IS prototype at a private viewing? There are some details that are off, but never has any Lexus been rendered correctly more than a year before it's unveiling. It's ridiculous how close these came to the real thing, yet everything that seems to follow them pale in comparison.

The rear of the 4GS looks so much better -
I expect the rear of the 3IS to have a similar look to the 4GS with "sharper" accents. The rendering above looks completely "flat." The rear overall doesn't look very balanced at all.
