The comment about how these prototypes are "90% of what the real production car will be" is interesting. Does that include driving dynamics, or are they just stating the obvious (unfinished interior, for example)?

The guy in the video said the engines are new, but they are actually carried over.

The 8 speed transmission coupled with the 3.5L is "new," and supposedly leads to better acceleration (particularly in the mid-range).

He said the 3.5L is new. It probably is in Aussie, but not here in the US.

Does anyone know if the new IS has hydraulic or electric power steering?

The original 1999-2006 1IS had conventional hydraulic power steering.
My 2006-2013 2IS has electric power steering - it's a bit devoid of feeling, but they have significantly improved the feel of the electric power steering in the new 4GS...

I can't think of anything recently that has been launched with hydraulic steering. Certainly every new Toyota/Lexus launch of the past 2 years has gone electric.

Even the latest Porsche's have gone EPS.

However the latest Porsche and Scion FRS/BRZ have good implementation of EPS with good steering feedback according to most reviews.
