on LFA it is because of weight and simplicity
on IS it is because of cost. the extra motor and design / mechanism, assembly and quality (flushness) check. that's all cost.
on LS they have the room to do much better design and implementation given the cost structure

I'm pretty sure there's no extra weight, motors, cost, etc. I'm guessing the high pressure from the washer "pump" itself lifts the mechanism (at least on the current IS). Aside from the cometics, their usage should be decoupled from the windshield washer/wipers.

lol, they have it on cheap toyota's in europe, as it is mandatory... I think it is cool they use the same thing as LFA, like they do some other parts of the car. It probably shows intent and its cool. Let the haters hate.

but i do agree it should be separated from windshield washers
please explain your "haters hate" comment. so it's not ok for people to raise questions about the car?

I would think the reason for not having the flush washer is because of the DRL LED lights are positioned separately and are below the main headlight assembly --- There may not be enough room to stuck a more flush headlight washer assembly in that area.
Besides, Lexus don't want to wash the DRL LED lights when only trying to wash the headlights. So the result is angled protruding headlight washers with some chrome accent in order to make it more stylish.
Initially, I was disappointed by the protruding washers since they are a bigger obstacle when doing the car wash, detailing, clear bra installation, etc. Now I think I will keep my fingers crossed to see the actual car in order to try to appreciate this different design approach.

Toyota Corolla has concealed setup.
So I have to LOL at your theory.
And yeah, I still remember our talk about fog lights where you tried to put it as cost saving measure, and you are doing the same thing here and you know it. It is silly but if thats how you like it, be my guest.
I am glad that IS is using same "cost saving measures" as LFA as we know that LFA is all about cost saving.

Looks better in real life pics but still not a great looking car overall. Carryover of power trains also doesn't help.
I hate the rear diffuser - looks very cheap and horrid.
they should of utilized integrated exhaust like the GS/LS.
Non FSport version looks very good from the front though.

I thought i was the only one to think that They surly could do a better job with it, maybe leave it painted or sth.
But i will hold on to my overall opinion till i see the car in person.

Do you think all these cars we are seeing would be considered early production cars? I mean these cars must have been built what 2 months ago or earlier? So do think Lexus would make any changes when the cars go into production?
I'm also wondering these cars are showing ML but do they really have it or is it just a logo plate on these prod cars.
