Nice video
The Q50 Hybrid may have better paper specs than the GS450h, but then so do most Hyundai's and Kia's vs other mainstreams. However when it comes to real world, this is not the case. The Lexus simply put has a much better integrated system than the competition hence it's not a disappointment when it comes to yielded results. The GS450h however is about $7K overpriced

Stoplight racers be warned however, that after a few 0-60 runs the battery and motor heat up enough that the control circuitry puts the kibosh on at least a portion of the electric assist and by the 6th back-to-back 0-60 run our times had risen to 6.2 seconds.

Well ... Not all people see it the same way . Some people don't like aggressive looking car or they don't like an uncommon change , also Lexus targeting younger audience and this is why probably most people who like the look of the new Lexus IS are young .

I'm older. I bought one. I like it a lot. Then again I bought a 4G Acura -- maybe I just have an affinity for controversial looking cars. Can't see myself in a C250 or 3 series -- a dime a dozen those cars. For people who want to blend in and don't mind seeing 4 cars just like theirs sitting at a red light with them.

I too, am "older" 47 years old. The pictures of the IS didn't appeal to me, it wasn't until I saw the IS in person that I really liked it (same with the Q50, except the opposite reaction when I saw one in person).

Nissan along with every other automaker these days overrates & overstates their performance & MPG numbers in general.
Toyota & probably Honda too are the only 2 automakers left which don't exaggerate their numbers..

plus on the car sites, lots of Lexus haters anyway... whatever comes out from Toyota/Lexus is automatically hated in the comments no matter the looks.

You make a very reasonable statement. Preferences about cars are personal and depend on any number of practical and emotional factors. I, like some others on this thread, am older, significantly older than Redcuper, in fact. I became interested in the IS 350 F Sport because I wanted the best handling sport sedan I could afford. My ruling out a coupe was my concession to practicality, as I need four doors because I anticipate grandchildren coming along in a few years. So, Lexus may have designed the '14 IS to attact a younger buyer, but they also got me. For someone else, another Lexus model, or even the Q50, might appear the better choice.

I do wonder how the all wheel drive systems compare between the Q50 and the IS, The Q50 apparently offers an "intelligent" AWD system which will distribute power among the wheels depending on road conditions. So, dry roads, power goes to rear wheel (s); slippery conditions, power distributed differentialy.
Does the IS AWD work like this or in a different way?
