Video Walkaround: 2014 Lexus IS & IS F SPORT

Very great and informative video! I find it interesting that the ISF and ISC are still going to be offered, but unchanged for 2014. With both variants likely receiving the 3IS treatments, you'd think most buyers/enthusiasts will await the new versions... Regardless, we can't wait to see the new ISF and ISC, as well as the new IS in person! Gotta get our hands (and wheels) on one!

This is the first video I have seen showing what it looks like sitting in the back seat. Looks like decent leg room.

kinda wondering why this hot new lexus has a cd drive at all. do people still want to use cd's in new cars? seriously?
not blaming lexus, that would be a bold change, but it seems to me the majority of owners will never use that slot but will be stuck with it in the dash forever.

Personally I will use my usb or phone, but that doesnt mean i would like to limit everyone... plus people have bunch of CDs around and dont want to go through effort of ripping them.

The 3IS looks best in darker colors, like the gray above. The Lexus silver looks awesome too as always. But I'll tell you why from a design standpoint the diffuser is not body colored. Modern cars have higher hoods and consequently, higher rear decks. This has forced taillights to go higher than where they've traditionally been positioned (closer to the center in the 90s for example). It's also why the bangle style rear end has gained popularity: high trunk needs to be separated from the rear fender just like a high hood is separated from the front fender.
Had the diffuser been body colored (i.e. white), it would add a LOT of visual mass to the rear end. The taillights would appear higher than they do now and the bumper much thicker than the rest of the rear bodywork. Designers black out anything they want to streamline but can't. It's why the bottom of the Lexus mirrors are black for example: to make the mirrors seem thinner and sleeker.
Here is a quick chop that hopefully illustrates that:
Holy fat bumper batman. They black it out to remove that mass and to make the taillights appear as if they are closer to the center of the rear end (white mass) rather than the top.
The IS is a sport sedan, and therefore it needs a taught and trim appearance. Engineering restrictions may not always allow for this, so designers turn to tricks to create that illusion.

She's got sexy fender/wheel-arch flares not found on any German and smooth liquid bodywork.
